KYUR, Inc. is a Registered Investment Advisor located in Newport Beach, CA in the heart of the financial business district of Fashion Island. KYUR was founded by investment executives with extensive experience in equities and alternative asset classes. The team has managed equity, fixed income and hedge fund strategies at leading Wall Street firms, including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Neuberger Berman, Man Group and GLG Partners.

Using a quantitative fundamental bottom-up approach, KYUR® employs advanced quantitative algorithms that focus on control of risks of capital losses to generate alpha and optimal long-term returns. We seek to bring investment strategies that are of institutional quality and discipline to investors who may not have access to top-performing investment results. Our clients include foundations, high-net-worth and accredited Investors.

Dr. Vinh Q. Tran, Founder and CEO

Dr. Tran taught Quantitative Finance in the MBA program at NYU Stern School of Business and is the author of several books in investment. He has over 30 years of innovative and acclaimed work in leadership roles at leading Wall Street firms. He was Vice Chairman and Deputy Chief Market Strategist of Sabrient Systems LLC, a quant research and investment firm with over $8 billion of assets in Santa Barbara, CA. Earlier, he was Director of assets in Santa Barbara, he was Director of International Investments for Aetna Life & Casualty, managing global investments and asset allocation strategies for Separate Accounts, where he grew assets to over one billion dollars. Later, he was Head of a Global Fund Group at Morgan Stanley. Then, he joined BofA Merrill Lynch as Senior Vice President of Global Wealth Management and Director of Alternative Investments, advising and managing assets for large institutions and Ultra High-Net-Worth clients. Dr. Tran has a Ph. D. in International Finance from George Washington University. He is the author of Market Upside Down: How to Invest Profitably in a Shrinking Economy (published by FT Press/Wharton School Publishing); Evaluating Hedge Fund Performance (John Wiley & Sons) –a recommended text by the CFA Institute; Japan: A Cautionary Tale (FT Press eBooks); Foreign Exchange Management in Multinational Firms (University of Michigan Research Press). Dr. Tran has also taught and lectured on finance and global affairs at leading graduate schools including NYU Graduate School of Global Affairs, Harvard, Columbia.

Thuy Tran brings a wealth of investment knowledge and experience from attending elite universities and working at leading investment firms. For over 15 years he has launched and managed multi-strategy equity funds at Neuberger Berman, Man Group, GLG Partners and Epoch Investment Partners. Funds he managed were top rated by Morningstar, Lipper and Pensions & Investments. He has managed long-only, long/short and market neutral equity strategies across U. S. and Global markets, in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Emerging Markets.

Thuy has an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was selected as a Wharton Fund Fellow to manage a portion of UPenn’s endowment fund. His Advanced Study Project was Investing in Frontier Equity Markets. He earned a B.Sc. in Economics and Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business and studied history and language at Hanoi University. He is a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall.
