O.C.’s Little Saigon Hosts Tết Lunar New Year’s Eve Celebration Honoring 50 Years Since the Fall of Saigon Meaningful Community Event to Feature Cultural Performances, Traditional Lion Dances, Vietnamese Food and Family

America’s largest Vietnamese population kicks off a series of meaningful events to commemorate the 50° anniversary of the community’s arrival in Southern California after the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
Serving as the first community celebration for the 50th anniversary, the Tét Lunar New Year’s Eve celebration in Garden Grove in the heart of Little Saigon ushers in the Year of the Snake and give thanks to the land that embraced them as refugees from war-torn Vietnam as they rebuilt their lives in America. This event also will pay tribute to the legacy of Vietnamese refugees in 1975 and others afterward who call Little Saigon home, transforming the area into a vibrant cultural, entertainment, business and faith center.

The festivities include a powerful lineup of cultural performances, including a special appearance by international artist Huong Thuy and traditional lion dances with firecrackers, alongside family-friendly activities that embody the spirit of Tết. Local businesses and community organizations are coming together to honor the significant contributions of Vietnamese Americans, who have shaped Orange County’s rich cultural identity.

As part of the festivities, the first 400 attendees receive $2 bills in Li Xi red envelopes from Genesis Bank, free drinks from 7 Leaves Cafe, savory Banh Mi from Banh Mi Saigon, and treats from Banh Khot Lady. The event will also feature kids’ activity stations, photo booths, and prizes, including beauty products, iPads, and other giveaways, sponsored by partners such as Bele Nguyen State Farm, Nghia Nippers, KYUR Wealth, Advance Beauty College, Beauty Changes Lives, OCTA, and the Garden Grove Police Department.
